The above layout is the more or less the finalized room concept and will be basis of the mock up room details. The section below details the running commentary with Marriott + Wilson Associates and East West Properties. Many ideas were exchanged, key areas included the bathroom and balcony and functionality of the room layout.
Sundeck proposed by Wilson Associates to be located at the facing the balcony
Duravit Description of the Sundeck
In the bathroom. In the living room. On the patio... Sundeck, the latest new bathtub from Duravit, is a stroke of genius in all senses and in all surroundings. The distinctly stylish look cuts a dashing figure anywhere in the home where there is a hot water connection. A practical cover keeps the fragrant bathwater warm until you climb in. And that’s not all: folded back, it provides the bather with a comfortable headrest, folded out it becomes a relaxation deck and shelf area. And despite all the practical functionality, Sundeck always looks like an elegant item of furniture. That, too, is wellbeing – for all the senses.

Comments:
In the meeting, W.A. presented the concept of having bathtub/daybed concept coming into the room. However at the meeting, we all agreed that it was impractical to have the tub coming into the room from an operational and safety point of view.
Key issues raised after reviewing room section:
1) I am not clear on the bathtub by the balcony situation. This is much different than what I’ve seen before which clearly shown the tub to be on the balcony, not inside the room. I can’t see how this will work with desk over the tub. Let me know what the rational of this bath tub location is…etc. Tub should be on the balcony, not in the room. I also need to understand clearly how the desk will be supported with electrical outlet, telephone jack..etc.
[WHPL] - Bathtub position is outside on the balcony. Daybed is enclosed into the room. There will only be one point of access to the balcony on the left side of the day bed. W.A. will have to respond to support of electrical outlet at desk area as our current desk location does not solve the issued raised by Karen. We reuire tidy access to outlets, nothing worse than laptop wires running across the room.
2. Elevations (both option 1 and 2) shows a stack of trunks even at the mini bar area.. where will be the mini bar? Coffee machine also need to be position around the mini bar location.
[WHPL] - What is the function of having a stack of drawers here as they are now unusually placed in the corner of the room near the balcony? What will the guest use this for? - Mini bar and safe are now next to one another, however W.A. to clarify what height they are placed at. Initial thought by us is that mini bar should be placed at standing height without the need to reach down with shelvingroom underneath for other food items. Current drawing shows the safe placed next to the mini bar fridge. This will be located next to the fridge but below the height of the fridge. This will allow space for coffee machine. W.A. and Marriott should give their opinion on this layout arrangement of safe/minibar/coffee machine area.
3. Where is the reading lights?
[WHPL] - Bedside reading lights are wall mounted. There is also a ceiling light located above the desk. Are we rethinking desk concept here due to current location of electrical outlets? One idea is to locate outlets below matress part of daybed - that way desk may remain there and when using daybed you can plug your ipod/laptop/dock as well.
4. What is the material on the TV wall? Although there is no specific information about the material but it looks like wall vinyl. If it is, they need to change this to be millwork panel, instead. Wall vinyl for TV casing detail is not acceptable. Also, is this TV recessed? Different elevation shows different detail.
[WHPL] - Response by W.A. team
5. What is the basket like chair? Need cushion seat and back.
[WHPL] - Response by W.A. team
5. What is the basket like chair? Need cushion seat and back.
[WHPL] - Agree with cushion requirements. W.A. team to further clarify.
6. Shelf below the vanity counter should not be recessed. Difficult to reach the towels which will be placed on this shelf.
[WHPL] - W.A. team to comment.
7. Suspended shelves should not be 3 tiers but 2.
[WHPL] - W.A. team to comment.
8. What is the size of round bench inside the shower?
[WHPL] - round bench has been removed to include seating slab across the wall where the mounted shower is placed.
9. Hand held showerhead should be on adjustable rod.
[WHPL] - Agreed. W.A. team to comment.
10. Level 1 Ballroom mood image (on the left) with open basket weave detail is not ideal.
[WHPL] - W.A. team to comment as we are unclear about what this is in reference to.
11. What is the width of stairs? Seems very narrow.
[WHPL] - no stairs to balcony area. Steps are only located from balcony area into the tub. Please refer cross sectional drawings attached. Run is 200.
In response to the shaft location at the balcony - this will have to be changed. Having a shaft on cantelivered balcony is not practical.
Suggestion is to change the plumbing for the tub to be done above the ceiling of the floor below. This may entail raising the tub level by 150 above FFL of the balcony.
Also to note is the Entry Door to the Bathroom - WHPL has agreed with W.A. to continue with previous concept of sliding door for wardrobe and bathroom entry. This would mean when bathroom door is closed, the wardrobe would be open.
